A Song A Day: Torandaga – ‘After Life’

The problem that I have with a lot of modern shoegaze is, that it is fine being dreamy and ‘soundscape-y’ but when there’s no melody or the vocals consist of barely audible echoes, I switch off. Thankfully Torandaga are much better than this.

‘After Life’ combines shoegaze elements where the vocals are concerned but adds depth, a carefully constructed song with a beguiling melody. Thumbs up!

The band say of the track:

“The song shifts narrative perspective, and explores how death could be perceived as just another sensation, while those who are alive experience loss.”
