A Song A Day: Heavy Heart – ‘Fruitfly’

Heavy Heart‘s 90s infused indie channels a little more than the usual shoegaze influences – they inject their own ‘dreamgaze’ indie sound here on ‘Fruitfly’.

Although the melody may seem sunny and upbeat, Heavy Heart’s Anna describes a darker undertone:

“The song was inspired by reading about cults – I was fascinated about what could be powerful enough to cause someone to give up everything, even to poison their own children and themselves.  It’s easy to feel immune but in a different way we’re brainwashed too, obediently following trends and social rules.  It’s addictive, something toxic coated in sweetness which we’re attracted to like flies.”

There’s certainly more to this band than meet the eye and I’m curious to find out more!
